RESPONSE: For clarification, Mary Grace refunded the retainer an hour after this Google review was posted and called the bride to see if things could be dealt with "privately." She was fired two weeks ago and we have not spoken since. She did not "modify" our contract; she cancelled on doing four out of five girls' makeup, BIG difference. Her morning wedding she double-booked overlapped our contracted time of 8-2 PM. She wanted to now do only the bride at 11:00 a.m. The unapproved/outsourced MUA was NOT "comparable" - per her own contract language - to MG's skillset, education, and training. ZERO accountability still! PSA FOR MICHIGAN BRIDES: PLEASE BE WARY OF MARY GRACE MAKEUP. If this helps even one bride or potential MG client, I’ll feel like I’ve done my due diligence. I truly wouldn’t wish what Mary Grace put us through on my worst enemy. No bride deserves to be gaslit, guilted, or shamed on such a sacred day — especially not by their makeup artist. I was my little sister’s MOH for her December 2025 wedding at Planterra Conservatory. Mary Grace came recommended by the venue, and after researching her reviews, social media, and availability, the bride was thrilled to book her. We trusted her completely — which ended up being our first mistake. She was contracted 18 months in advance for bridal makeup, three maids, and MOB from 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Two weeks before the wedding, she went completely MIA — no responses to the planner or anyone. Six days before the ceremony, she finally texted saying we “needed to talk” because she hurt her back on a Thanksgiving cruise. Out of concern, we checked her Instagram… where she appeared standing, posing, smiling, and looking perfectly fine. What followed was a mess of texts and emails, and it became clear she was backing out and had already attempted to pass us off to random MUAs before even speaking to us. We scheduled a Zoom. I am a female entrepreneur and someone who advocates for mental health — but I genuinely fear this woman is unstable or has overextended herself out of greed or delusion. During the call, she accidentally admitted she had double booked herself with another morning wedding despite being contracted exclusively for our 8–2 window. When we pointed out the contract breach, she began gaslighting us, minimizing the issue, shaming the bride, accusing us of attacking her, and playing the victim. Then came the bizarre crying and whining — yet for an hour she didn’t adjust her posture, squirm, wince, or show a shred of physical discomfort consistent with a “back injury.” She even said she could “put on a face” to do at least the bride’s makeup — exactly what every bride wants to hear. She accused me and my mother (who was paying her) of “ruining the experience,” when we were the ones fixing her mess. When we referenced her own contract clause requiring a replacement artist with equal qualifications in cases of illness/injury, she admitted the people she outsourced were not equivalent and that no one would be at such short notice. At that point, the contract was effectively void. We requested a revised agreement and agreed to think it over. After stepping back, the bride realized she no longer felt comfortable having Mary Grace in the suite. Her energy alone had already tainted the experience. We terminated the relationship and ended up flying in a celebrity artist from the West Coast — paying airfare, last-minute red-eye travel, hotel, transportation, services, and tip. He truly saved the entire day. Brides — I urge you to think twice before dealing with someone this narcissistic and unprofessional. Yes, she is talented, but the chaos, emotional distress, and financial fallout she caused were absolutely not worth it. She refused to refund even our $200 deposit — a wonderful parting gift. You cannot gamble with the most important day of your life. While we wish her the best and hope she gets the help she needs, I genuinely don’t know how she’ll succeed while harboring such hostility toward clients who simply wanted to feel beautiful on their special day.Posted onTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I usually don’t write/blog because I simply don’t have the time but I had to make some to write this one. Marygrace did my Daughter’s makeup for her prom and I was absolutely amazed!! Naturally, I was a bit skeptical at first, but as soon as we were about 1 minute into the consultation I knew we had a “true artist” on our hands. Marygrace was the absolute best! During our trial session we were able to figure out the exact look I wanted and she was very patient as I changed my mind and showed her various pictures. I had a photo session booked after the make up trial session and the photos turned out beautifully. On my actual wedding day, I decided to go with less make up and she did an amazing job highlighting my features and the natural look I was going for. She was also so sweet and accommodating to touch up my moms make up before we left. I was a happy bride and the make up looked amazing throughout the night.

Marygrace gets it. I was the bride and she knew exactly how to have me look perfect for the lighting in the photographs and video for my wedding day. (I work in film so i know that some makeup just disappears when in front of the camera) But I also didn’t want to look over done in person. She found the perfect balance. Same experience for my Maid of Honor and my Mother of the Bride, and for my outdoor engagement photos.
Im telling you, she gets it. Whether you are in your 20s or 60s, she will know how to make you look perfect and accentuate YOUR best qualities. Don’t even bother looking at celebrities to get inspirational make up looks. YOU will be the celebrity that others will use as inspiration. Again, its all about what makes you stand out and work for YOUR face. There are a lot of makeup artists out there. Do yourself a favor and hire someone who will make you look like the star that you are.
In addition, my wedding day was recorded to be the hottest day of the year, can we say “sweaty”. I also cried several happy tears throughout my perfect day. Marygrace’s setting spray saved the day because my makeup didn’t budge until I washed it off. Thank you, Marygrace, You’re amazing.
